Summer Clothes Swap

This is the first ever Woodend clothes swap, and we're so excited! It will be an evening of fun, friendship, live music, and of course, clothes.

Here are the ground rules:

1. Get yourself a ticket! Available on eventbrite (link on page, or http://yaysummer.eventbrite.co.uk)

2. Bring in the clothes/ accessories you'd like to swap to Yay Coffee BEFORE 24th June. Think summery, but basics are welcomed (say that pair of trousers you've never worn). We'll then exchange those clothes for coupons.

For example:
Basic top/ pair of shorts: 1 coupon
Pair of trousers/ skirt: 2 coupons
Dressy top/ basic dress: 2 coupons
Dresses: 3 coupons
Special items (say full length dresses/ designer items/ coats/ jackets/ special shoes) : 4 coupons

Please bring clothes in clearly labelled with your name so we can distribute coupons accordingly. We’ll give these to you on the night when you hand in your ticket!

We'll exercise discretion when distributing coupons to try and ensure the process is as fair as possible. We also ask that you only bring items you'd be proud to see someone else wearing.

We also want to remind you that the swapping stage is final- you may be able to buy your clothes back, but we can’t guarantee it!

Any clothes that don’t get swapped will go to a good home.

3. On the evening:

Doors open from 6pm for browsing. Pick up your bubbles, and take a look at what's on offer- grab a drink & chill with friends.

From 6:45 swapping begins! There'll be mirrors and a photo booth so you can double check that you do indeed look AWESOME in that new dress. ;)

Bring your coupons along and swap them for your new outfit, and hey presto, you're the owner of some fresh new clothes!

There'll be hair & makeup too for a small additional charge (£5)

Bar will be open all evening, and light nibbles will be provided

Live music from Lottie Holmes, Maisie., and Esther throughout the evening

ALL PROFITS from ticket sales will go to Hope For Justice, who exist to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society. There'll be the chance to donate more on the night should you wish to. Further info about the charity can be found on this website:

Tea Tasting (with Mike Riley from Storm Tea)

Hello!

So we've done coffee tastings before, but we thought it was time to do something a little different!

This time, we're going to host a tea tasting evening, with Mike Riley from Storm Tea, our tea supplier. He's an absolute pro, and knows way more about tea than we do (we're learning so much right now about the world of tea), so he's coming to guide us through the process. We'll be right alongside you slurping away :)

We're holding this event in the Sitwell Library, an amazing Oak panelled room at Woodend, so we have to limit places to absolute maximum of 18.

We'll the usual nibbles alongside this.

Price per head is £10.
Tickets available via Eventbrite or in store

The Brother Brothers

Come down to Woodend for a great evening of entertainment. We’re not the organisers of this event, but we’re open serving drinks before & during.

These Woodend Live gigs have been become some of our favourite things of late!

”The Brother Brothers are Adam and David Moss, identical twins carrying on the folk tradition for a new generation. Using minimal instrumentation, heartfelt lyricism, and harmonies so natural they seem to blend into one beautiful voice, the siblings draw on the energy and creativity of Brooklyn, New York for their full-length debut album, Some People I Know.

The Brother Brothers’ acoustic project emerges from several years spent traveling the country, both separately and together, playing in varying ensembles and sometimes settling in separate cities. Though each writes his fair share of the discography independently, the brothers’ palpable fraternal bond produces a togetherness in these songs that few bands can offer. “

Yay Babies (teeny tiny)

Hey all! So we need another meet up! We miss you guys and your little cuties!

This one will be for parents of teeny ones (I.E non mobile), so you can chill & chat together while your little squishes bond with each other (I know they don't really do this yet but it's still a nice thought ;) )

We'll have a couple of tables saved for you. Just ask where the reserved ones are.

Because of the age of the children it's targeted at, there won't be as much toy related stuff out for older ones as at Triceratots, but there's always colouring, and you're welcome to bring some bits along if you'd like to. Our little guy will probably be around to play skittles with.

Yay Babies!

Hello! So it's not very far away, but we thought we would book in another baby session before Coastival (22-24th Feb) and a paper sculpture exhibition in March.

As before, it's not an official playgroup, but there'll be plenty of space set aside for prams so you can come and enjoy a coffee/ cake/ tea/ chat. If you're a new parent/ parent looking to meet some super lovely people, this might be the thing for you!

Weeniverse will be providing their awesome play dough entertainment once more too!

We look forward to seeing you!

TriceraTOTS

RUN BY SCARBOROUGH MUSEUM’S TRUST…we just provide drinks! :)

WHAT IS IT?
Bring your little ones to embark on a new adventure each week. TriceraTOTs is an under 5's group with a difference! Your tots have the unique opportunity to handle objects from our museum collections and be inspired by stories, crafts and games. This group is led by Scarborough Museums Trust (the guardians of the Rotunda Museum and Scarborough Art Gallery).

CHANGE OF LOCATION
Following the recent closure of one of our galleries at the Rotunda Museum, we have decided to move TriceraTOTs to Woodend. This gives parents and toddlers more space to roam and the opportunity to grab a yummy slice of cake and a hot drink from Yay! Coffee.

THE NITTY GRITTY
This is now a FREE group to attend and no booking is required. Just be prepared at busy times that there may be a slight delay on drinks.
Woodend has baby changing facilities and there will be space for prams and buggies to be stored.
All of our venues are breast feeding friendly.
We like to encourage a free flow environment so we will make sure that there's plenty of safe space for your little ones to explore.

Yay Babies!

Hey everyone! So this is a head’s up to let you know our first official meet will be at 10am on Friday 25th Jan! We’ll have a small play dough area for the bigger littlies run by Weeniverse, lots of colouring books and some other bits and bobs. Perhaps more importantly though, there’ll be some dedicated space for you to bring your tiny babies along, prams and all, and sit with a hot drink and relax for a little while in a wonderful setting. Come and grab some time out for a couple of hours ♥️

There’s no charge for this, we just ask that you grab a drink or something from us. ☕️

Coffee Tasting Evening

This will be a relaxed evening, during which we will try a collection of coffees from around the world, using industry standard procedure as a base to work from. We'll guide you through it, so it really doesn't matter whether you've done anything like this before! It's a great way to taste coffees side by side and see what their differences are, and ask any questions you might have.

Come along, and have some fun!

There will be some light nibbles provided.

Tickets are £10 per person, available from the shop or via eventbrite:

P.S You don't have to swallow all the coffee if you're worried about sleeping ;)

YAY CHRISTMAS PARTY!

It’s pretty last minute, but decided that because it’s our last day of trading until 2019, we’re going to have a party! A Christmassy party, with some mulled cider, some festive cakes, Christmas colouring for the kids, possibly some crackers & games and of course some good old Christmas classics on the tune box. It’s a bit cheesy but we love this time of year!

Anyone is welcome, whether you’re a regular customer, or you’ve never been before but you just fancy popping down to Woodend for a bit...we’d love to see you. 😁
